I always found it funny how Denmark and Sweden always fought due to them being different (this is true, there have been so many wars for no other reason than the kings wanting to be remembered), but when sattelites came up and the entire world came to know each other existed, the fighting immidiatly stopped. They were no longer different, they were almost twins.

Also im so pissed Denmark came out last in this way, we had the entire north europe at one point, and look at us now.

Another reason Finland is often excluded is that their language that is dominant in daily life and official in governmental affairs is not only not in the Germanic language-family, but isn't even in the Indo-European family, and this may have had a great influence on their sense of connectedness to Estonia, very close by across a bit of water (Gulf Of Finland), whose dominant and governmental language is also non-European and more closely related to Finland's language than any other official national language. Or it could be the other way around: rather than the language connecting the peoples, perhaps the peoples were always connected, and the Finns CAME from Estonia at a time when the two languages were the same, and then, later, Finnish and Estonian evolved away from each other owing to the separating Gulf, while, perhaps, the peoples never lost their sense of connection to each other even as their languages drifted apart.

The way the outline of "Scandinavian Peninsula" is drawn in this video, it makes the "peninsula" a body of land hanging by a line connecting the east end of The Gulf Of Finland with the SOUTHERNMOST point of The White Sea. Okay, that is one way to show a chunk of land hanging by a line hinging it to the mainland. But I don't think ANYONE would color in "the Scandinavian Peninsula" that way. (Certainly no U.S. college-educated person would do that. THEY'D color in Florida.) But even most normally-educated Western European people would say that the hanging-off line is the line connecting the north end of The Gulf Of Bothnia with the NORTH end of The White Sea. A few people would draw the line so that The Kola Peninsula is excluded, only because if The Kola Peninsula is already named as its own Peninsula it doesn't need to be part of The Scandinavian Peninsula. We are accustomed to thinking of Peninsulas as having length, and if you draw the line the way it is drawn in this video yes it does make a piece of land hanging off a mainland but it's more of a square piece, not a long piece. So people think of it the second way, and that way it includes Finland's northern half but not its southern. And, actually, people don't really HAVE the line where it is connected in their heads anyway. What they picture, in their heads, is Norway and Sweden forming a long peninsula whose water boundaries are The Gulf Of Bothnia to the east, the Baltic Sea to the southeast and south, Danish Straits to the south, then the Kattegat, then the North Sea to the southwest, and the (North) Atlantic Ocean perhaps on Norway's northwest coast. That's what the picture is. The actual LINE where this peninsula connects to the land-mass that it is a peninsula OF is never in the frame of the picture the way most people imagine it. The land of the peninsula just goes right up to the top and right of the picture they having in mind, without continuing on to the place where it connects to the mainland mass.

Hey but Greenland's not Danish because of Vikings. It's true that Vikings colonised Greenland, but those Vikings were Norwegian and they all died. The Danish came back only in the 17th century, by which time they were definitely not Vikings.
