Imagine two hypothetical parties, purple and yellow. Purple gets 40% of the national vote and yellow gets 60%. Due to the electoral college being what it is, purple gets more electoral votes. Due to faithless electors voting for an orange party, no one gets a majority and congress picks orange.
Yellow won popular vote
Purple got the most EV’s
Orange wins election

The more I think about it the more this seems in favour of the NaPerVoInterCo.
Think about it, if party A wins the overall vote then states that party B won in send people to vote for A, faithless electors could supersede this and just vote for B anyway.
With a "You must vote the way your state says law" they have to go along with it water they like it or not.
So maybe yay weird system gets weirder but more fair?

They are not called faithless. This system is in place because of criminal activity. Our forefathers predicted that there would be voter fraud. Right now in 2020 we have a total of 7 states that sent dueling electors. But AZ was flipped red because of all the voter fraud. They are not counting NM dueling elector because ?? Meanwhile voter fraud on a massive scale with evidence was found in GA, PA, WI, MI, and NV. If we did away with the electoral college the only states with the most people would count to elect our President. Our forefathers were very intelligent and did not have a TV to distract them from their resolve to come up with a plan for a fair election.

\\\\ ARE GEORGIA AND OTHER STATES UNDER GERRYMANDERING DARKNESS? //// Instead of clean election run inside well established county-borders, Gerrymandering people tilt election borders by their "pre-selected" racial and other known voting tendencies, as reportedly done at least in Georgia [YOU-tube, Mar 9, 2017],"'Washington,[127], Arizona,[128], California[129], [130] Rhode Island [131], New Jersey [132,133]" - Wikipedia, and Oct 17, 2019, YOU-tube: "The man who rigged America's election maps." To avoid destabilizing tainting of future regimes, well established county borders should be used to remove doubts regarding the Nov-3-run to be compared with a clean general runoff. No time? WRONG. The original constitution: Four months post election date. as done over hundred years until president FDR changed it in 1932. Naturally some would object, but what is more important?...\\\\

So when we say that a state can "require" its electors to vote for a certain candidate, we simply mean that they can punish them if they don't, correct?
In other words, an elector's vote still counts even if it is for the "wrong" person. There just might be legal consequences.

\\\\ Who is the Winner? Media or the Supreme Court? //// Both are made of people. Both are afraid. Survival is at stack, of different types: Media to be destroyed by 4 more years, SC by out of control, subsequent instabilities, beginning domestically, expanding globally and historically. The whole world is watching with muddled suspense. We all know it is beyond the runaway horizons of healing the Union, beyond the future of our offspring, because a reversible test is not. Like a few irreversible words in biblical times, the Union was split, and the 10 tribes were consumed by the flames of history. Is this what young people are being taught in school? This video is about 50% accurate.
1. There are 33 states, including the District of Columbia, that have laws against faithless electors;
2. 17 of those states, including DC, have no mechanism in place to punish faithless electors;
3. 13 States have laws that permit fines and make it a crime to be a faithless elector;
4. 3 states void the vote cast by the faithless elector and permits the party to replace that individual.
5. The Supreme Court in its recent decision only addressed the very narrow issue of whether or not states are permitted to fine or punish faithless electors. The Court said that laws enacted to fine or punish faithless electors is not unconstitutional;
6. The Court did not, however, address the Constitutionality of a state that voids the vote cast by the faithless elector and replaces that elector.
7. The Electoral College WAS NOT created due to barriers in communication. This is a myth created by those who oppose the Electoral College to create the illusion that it is no longer necessary. The EC was created specifically as a safety measure to prevent candidates from taking office who are not qualified in mind or body to hold office, unfit of character or who do not meet the necessary qualifications to hold office such as citizenship, age etc. So, in other words, if a candidate wins an election by cheating, the remedy for that malfeasance rests with the Electoral College, not the Supreme Court.
When I went through college and law school, The Federalist Papers and Anti Federalist papers were required reading. Apparently, this is no longer the case. However, college or no, there is no excuse for not knowing why and how our governmental institutions exist and work. Just imagine what a country this would be if the willfully ignorant masses spent the same amount of time filling their brains with facts and meaningful knowledge as they do the garbage that litters social media.

Treason? You be the JUDGE. With a infra red security system view the clouds during daylight. See how the objects form clouds? These objects are real and have been here forever, giving water and controlling the weather undetected until radar. The FAA and other organizations must know of them. Do you think our Presidents know of them? If so why have the people not been told. I feel it is my duty to report all enemies alien or domestic. If any Judges read this, I ask you what is your Duty towards truth and honesty? Remember these are GLOBAL. So other GOVERNMENTS more than likely know of these objecs. Maybe our GOVERNMENTS are even controlling the weather for their nation. These objects control the winds rain, hurricanes tornados lightning and thunder and fires. Please help bring the truth out . See for yourselves. Weigh the evidence. Remember, the Campfire and the Car fire and all the fires. Think of 7D holographics

So I thinks its wrong to say that electoral votes are proportional ish to the population of a state. Official its equal to the number of people in congress that that state sends. So its proportion to population plus 2 thanks to the senate. Which makes sense. The amount of people a state gets to represent them in choosing the president is equal to the amount representing them in making federal laws.

As far as I can tell, this entire Supreme Court ruling is basically the court pointing at the 10th Amendment for the umpteenth time, reminding Congress and the capitalist billionaires that the state governments still exist and their laws are valid. This happened last year with the net neutrality thing too, basically telling Verizon "we don't care if you literally installed one of your own lawyers to the head of the FCC, you still have to follow California's laws while operating in the state of California"

The Supreme Court reaffirming a case from the 19th century is pretty interesting. I tend to think that in say, 1990, the court would have made faithless electors illegal, but the court is more small c conservative now. They aren’t in a mood for big changes to the interpretation of the law.

I'm not from the US and I find really interesting this election method. Have they ever thought about abolishing electors as persons and just give a number of electoral votes per state (based on population ratio) and just make them by popular vote? Whoever has the most votes on a state wins all the state's college votes without risking any kind of "betrayal" upon real voting from those electors?

Correct. I believe in Washington State, for example, our three faithless electors in 2016 were each fined $1000, which honestly is a joke. Most officials spend that much on shoes. There should be significant punishment for the faithless elector, as well as their worthless vote discounted and restored to what they were supposed to do in the first place. They're sent to represent the will of their constituency.

The problem with the college is some votes end up not counting at all. In 2016 it was shown 1 vote in Montana equals about 3.5 votes in California. No wonder so many people believe it's pointless to vote!

The concept of the Electoral College scares the heck out of me. I'd rather have my vote count, than to be given to a bunch of random appointed people who are *trusted* to do the right thing. With this upcoming election, THIS is one where this very flaw could matter.
